I wanted to give my children a last glimpse
Of the beauty and treasures hidden on this planet
Yet at times I feel it’s too late.
Four thousand kilometres through the Aztec lands
Past a handful of ancient sites,
hundreds of loud oumpah bands,
thousands of taco stalls and street vendors,
And millions of cactus in all its shapes and forms.
Yet the one big constant has been
RUBBISH
TRASH
GARBAGE.
Plastic EVERYWHERE we go
Covering the tierras and oceans like a toxic layer
Sparkling deceptively below the blasting desert sun.
Wall-E’s world a reality
If in this country, whereelse?
How to keep my kids away from this
Or better find a solution?
Wake up tribe,
It’s a combined effort.
We need to act NOW.
